Dear Students,
My name is Madame Guillemer and I am the middle and high school French teacher at Learning Unlimited.
Learning a new language is an enjoyable challenge that not only allows a person to communicate to a wider audience but also to discover and understand a new culture.
COURSE DESCRIPTION : This year you will learn to communicate in various real life situations and gain more insights into the French culture. You will be expected to keep an open mind to new and different sounds, ideas, and situations. You will take risks and make mistakes. You will focus on your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, and culture. You will work alone as well as with classmates. You will participate actively in the lessons. Because all students learn in different ways you will learn how to use various strategies to improve your skills.
In order to help you succeed I have included some important information.
HOMEWORK : You should be doing at least 5-10 minutes of review & studying at home every night. Most of your homework assignments will be based on the lesson of the day, including speaking practices, memorizing vocabulary and grammatical structures as well as creative writing assignments.
ASSESSMENTS : You will be assessed formally based on in-class oral and written assignments, quizzes, reflective learning activities and a variety of projects, done both individually and in partners. Informally, you will be assessed based on participation and cooperative learning activities. Class participation is essential for an accurate assessment of your abilities. The more I hear you the better I can assess your skills and abilities.
The final grade will be based on the total number of points and grades earned on organization and quality of class folder, oral performance, written work, quizzes, projects and tests.
EXPECTATIONS :
- Be on time
- Bring materials to class, be organized and come to class prepared.
- Demonstrate tolerance, patience and courtesy towards your classmates and teacher.
- Leave your desks in their places and the room clean.
- Complete all assignments on time. No late work will be accepted unless it is due to illness or reasons beyond control !
- Engrade for the work missed due to absence as well as other important information
